IT BEGINS...

IN THE LAND DOWN UNDER

On my two return journeys to Australia, I was granted the extraordinary opportunity to perform an Honoring on the Sacred Peak of Mount Warning on a spectacular Easter Sunday, to receive a Welcoming at the Sacred Marae Meeting House of the Maori people in New Zealand, and to enter the Circle once again with my brothers of the Aborigine people.

It is a remarkable land, the world ‘Down Under’.

There is beauty, there is wonder, and there is wisdom.

ON THE LECTURE CIRCUIT

After I returned from Australia, I soon found myself on the lecture circuit. For the next few years, I spoke at conference after conference, telling my grandfather’s story. Many wondered if I honestly believed his story. I told them that I did because of a paper that I had written while in college. This inevitably led to requests for copies of my college paper as well as for my grandfather’s story. When I searched for my ‘Terra’ papers, to my dismay, I discovered several pages missing. I reconstructed the missing pages to the best of my ability, edited the documentation and created what I believed was a ‘reader’s digest’ version of the original manuscript. I felt confident in my effort. I made quick copies for distribution and thus, the ‘Terra Papers’ were born. I now had two papers to offer: ‘The Star Elder Story’, a reconstruction of a memory my grandfather had told me; and ‘The Terra Papers’, a reconstruction of a college thesis. For many years, I traveled the country and the globe, sharing these two stories, and trying to explain their links to Earth’s ‘hidden history’. Unfortunately, all did not go well.

In the beginning, I shared many of my papers and my research with other speakers who also appeared on the lecture circuit. To my great dismay, I found that some of these speakers were now claiming what I had shared with them was strictly their own work.

I also encountered several very unscrupulous promoters who misrepresented me in order to draw large audiences. Let it be very clear: I have never proclaimed myself to be a Hopi Elder, a Hopi spokesperson or a designated Hopi historian. I have always proudly declared myself to be a Nobody. Though I continually protested this listing, by the time I arrived at the conference, the wrong message had already been sent out.
